Dorothy Hughes

Dorothy M. Hughes, 95, of Danville passed away at 11:15 PM on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Presence USMC, Danville. She was born June 26, 1920 in Fithian, IL the daughter of Ralph Gordon and Sylvia Nettie (Maxwell) McMorris. She was united in marriage to Russell Maxwell Hughes on June 4, 1938 in Danville, he preceded her in death. She will be missed by: two daughters, Sara (James) Switzer of Danville, and Karen (David) Bennett of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Janet Matteson; two brothers, Gerald McMorris and Eugene McMorris; sister, Beverly Nelson. Dorothy had many hobbies, that included, reading books, doing crafts and playing golf. She loved her family very much and she was very proud of all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren A Celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at 2:00pm, on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 2:00pm Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. Officiating will be Zach LeCrone. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Memorials donations may be made to First United Methodist Church in Danville.
