DANVILLE - Dorothy Emaline (Couse) Jeffers, 93, went to be with the Lord on November 18, 2007. Dorothy was born on February 3, 1914, in Lake Village, Indiana, the daughter of William Couse and Amy (Lain) Couse. She was one of ten children. Dorothy was raised and went to school in Hammond, IN. She married Fred Jeffers on February 3, 1931, in Valparaiso, IN. She began raising her family in Hammond until she moved to the Jeffers Family Farm in Georgetown, IL. They lived there until their families were raised and needed to move into town on 9th St. A few years later, after her husband passed, she went to be a resident of North Logan Health Care Center in Danville. Dorothy leaves behind: her five children, Winifred Taylor of Oakwood, Richard Jeffers of Springfield, IL, Frances (Bob) Mackiewicz of Danville, Fred Jeffers of Ft. Meyers, FL, and Delbert (Dianna) Jeffers of Hegeler. She is also survived by: her sister, Ora Mae Tooley of California; her eleven grandchildren; her 23 great grandchildren; her 21 great-great grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild. Dorothy devoted her life to her children and their families. She worked very hard on the farm to do this. She was an active member of the First Church of Christ in Georgetown for most of her life where she taught Sunday School many years with her husband. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Fred, six sisters, and two brothers, one son-in-law, Don, one daughter-in-law, Sue, three great grandchildren, Nick, Rachele, & Michael, and one great-great grandson, Zackary. Dorothy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of Dorothys life will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown, IL. Steve Rutter will be officiating. A visitation will be held from Noon to 2pm prior to her service. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery.
