Dorothy Eileen Cooper

Covington, IN- Dorothy Eileen Cooper, 87, of Covington passed away at 6:45 PM on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at The Waters of Covington. She was born on March 19, 1925 in Harvey, Il to William and Marie Anderson McCord. She married Doris Arthur Cooper on September 20, 1945 in Charleston, IL. He preceded her in death on July 22, 2012. Surviving are a son, Shaun (Marcia) Cooper of Covington; daughter Donna (Mike) Meuer of Washington, PA; and five grandchildren, Joe Cooper, Megan Cooper, David Meuer, Ben (Callie) Meuer, and Tim (Theresa) Meuer. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, Marian Aline (Homer) Snider, and 2 brothers, William Allen and Charles Robert McCord. Dorothy was a graduate of Thornton Township High School in Thornton, Illinois. She had worked as manager of the gift shop at Lakeview Hospital, was a real estate agent for Cooper Real Estate of Danville for several years, and was also an Insurance Claims Secretary for many years. Dorothy loved music, singing, playing the guitar, and square dancing. A service to celebrate the life of Dorothy Cooper will be held at 1:00 pm EDT on Friday, October 19th, 2012 at Sunset's Covington Chapel, 420 3rd Street in Covington. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Covington. Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 1:00 PM EDT on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Dorothy's name to the Covington Community Foundation.
