Dorothy E. Hesler, age 96 of Danville, passed away at her home on Sunday, July 25, 2021.
She was born in Brocton, Illinois on November 23, 1924 to the late Elbert (Bud) Shumaker and Nellie (Pine) Shumaker.
She retired from Teepak, Inc., Shirring Department in 1990 after 20 years of service. She bowled in many leagues and tournaments throughout the years and quit at the age of 91 due to her eyesight. She loved to line dance and listen to live music. She was an avid reader and turned to Talking Books when she could no longer read. She was a beautiful and loving woman.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Pam (Arnold) Jeffers, one grandchild, Shelley (Dave) Tison, three step grandchildren: Arnie Jr. (Jeri) Jeffers, Mike (Kari) Jeffers and Don (Sarah) Jeffers, and one great-granddaughter, Kalie Tison, and five step great grandchildren: Kara (Paul) Zelhart, Karlie Jeffers, Zach Jeffers, Alexandria Jeffers, and Brandon Jeffers. Nephews Bob Cary and Rusty (Lisa) Lewis, both of Texas, also survive.
She was predeceased by her son, Richard Hesler; sisters Mary Perry and Alma Lewis; niece Violet Perry and nephew Rollie Perry.
A funeral service for Dorothy will take place on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville. Her family will greet guests prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Thursday. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
