Dorothy E. Dalbey

Dorothy Eloise Seymour Cannon Dalbey, 100, of Oakwood, passed away at 3:45 am, Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Hawthorn Inn, Danville, IL. She was born on January 17, 1918, in Oakwood, IL, the daughter of Ernest Dick' and Grace Meade Seymour. She was united in marriage to Leland George Cannon on July 4, 1935, in Oakwood, until his passing in October of 1943. She later wed Frank Dalbey in 1951 until his passing in June 1989. She is survived by her son, Mike (Mary Kay) Cannon of Oakwood; her daughter-in-law, Linda Cannon of Oakwood; her sister, Ida Belle Condon of Oakwood; her grandchildren, Jodie (Kevin) Krout of Danville, Pamela (Mike) Cannon-Garcia of Springfield, Jill (Todd) Matson of Oakwood, Stephen Cannon Jr. of Boulder, CO, Christine (Dan) Schmidt of Valparaiso, IN, Cathi (David) Fritz of St. Joseph; her eleven great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; her many nieces & nephews, as well as several loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two sons, Larry & Steve Cannon; and her two brothers, Hubert & Kenneth Buddy' Seymour. Early in Dorothy's life, during WWII, she worked on planes as a riveter. She later became the head secretary at Oakwood Township High School for 25 years. She was a member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Dorothy waited until Easter morning to enter her Heavenly Home. She will be missed by many who loved her. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, April 6, 2018, at Sunset's Oakwood Chapel, 105 E. South Main St, Oakwood, with Pastor Patti Wise officiating. Visitation will be held 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, April 6, 2018, at the funeral home. Graveside Service will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Stearns Cemetery, Fithian. Memorial donations may be given in her name to Oakwood United Methodist Church.
