Danville- Dorothy Jean "Dot" Watson, 86, of Danville, IL, passed away at 2:15 pm on Friday September 23, 2016, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, IL. Dorothy was born on August 19, 1930, the daughter of Arthur W. and Theresa Corley Stacks in Pineville, LA. She married Robert "Bob" Watson on October 17, 1954, in Danville, IL, and he survives. Other survivors include her daughter, Tracey Watson (Michael Danner) of Alvin, IL, as well several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert W. Stacks. Dorothy starting working for the U.S. Federal Courts, became Judge Wise's secretary, advancing to become a U.S. Commissioner, and retiring from the Federal Clerk's Office in 1985. "Dot" was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Danville and a member of NARF (National Association of Retired Federal Employees). She enjoyed playing golf, cooking, vegetable and flower gardening, as well as boating, water skiing, and spending time with her family and friends. All who know "Dot" knew her as a "go-getter." A Tribute to the life of Dorothy will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 29, 2016, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating will be Father Geoffrey Scanlon. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Danville.
