Dorothy M. Barnett, 85, went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2015 at her home in Danville, IL. She was born the daughter of Lloyd and Pearl (Archer) Spesard on August 27, 1930 in Catlin, IL. Dorothy became the beloved wife of Walter Leon "Red" Barnett Sr. on April 25, 1956. Dorothy is survived by her daughters Cyndee Garrison and Cheryl (Ken) Allison; grandchildren Jake, Joe (Laura), Josh, Missy (Donnie), and Marie (Johnnie); great-grandchildren Blake, Austin, Jessica, Brittney, and baby girl Thomas to be born; sisters Myrna (Robert) Elgin and Betty (Larry) Buck; and her beloved dog Buddha. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother Lowell (Carol) Spesard. Dorothy operated "The 307 Shop" in Danville for over 30 years and attended Calvary Baptist Church. Dorothy was a proud grandmother and enjoyed taking an active role in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved talking with friends and family, and liked playing croquet and cards. When she was younger she attended horse shows and showed horses. A memorial visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center on Tuesday November 3, 2015 from 4-7pm with service to follow at 7pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Danville National Cemetery on Wednesday November 4 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers memorials came be made out to Cyndee Garrison.
