Dorothy B. Hamand

Dorothy B. Hamand, 88, of Georgetown, passed away at 11:30am, Monday, May 10, 2021, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville. She was born on September 13, 1932, in Rockville, Indiana the daughter of Emanuel and Rose {Milikin} Gubser, both deceased. She was married to Maynard Hamand on November 3, 1956. He preceded her in death. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Denis W. Hamand & Jerry R. Hamand, both of Champaign; her grandchildren, Emanuel (Tonya) Hamand & Samantha (Patrick) Olson; her foster son, Brian Wilson; her great grandchildren, Holden Hamand, Shopie, Ben, and her brother, Tom Gubser. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, John Gubser; and her sister, Mary Gubser. Dorothy loved taking care of her family and loved helping on the family farm. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting. She will be dearly missed by her family who will treasure the memories she created with them. As per her wishes, Dorothy will be accorded cremation rites. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, June 18, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Paul Hinzman officiating. Memorial donations may be given in her name to Donors Choice of charity.
