Doris Rose Kagels

Covington, Ind. -- Doris Rose Kagels, 68, of Covington, Indiana, passed away at 2:30 p.m. EDT Friday, April 11, 2008 at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born February 2, 1940 in Fountain County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Lowell M. and Burnis I. Gremore Galloway. She married Clifford C. Kagels on August 21, 1966 at the Salem United Methodist Church in Covington. He survives. Other survivors include: one son, Garth(Tina)Kagels of Covington, Indiana; two granddaughters, Olivia Rose-May and Mariah Angeline Kagels; one sister, Darleen(Charles)Swingle of Covington, Indiana; one brother, Gale(MaryAnn)Galloway of Danville, Illinois and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; one brother, Steve Galloway and several Aunts and Uncles. Doris was a registered nurse for 45 years. She was a 1958 graduate of Covington High School, 1962 graduate of Lakeview School of Nursing and a 2000 graduate of Lakeview College of Nursing receiving her B.S.N. degree. She was a member of the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church, The Reach Out Class at Benson Chapel and the Fountain County Garden Club. Doris was a mentor at Covington Elementary in 2005-2006. She was a master gardener and enjoyed raising flowers, gardening, yard work, crocheting and reading. Doris especially enjoyed her granddaughters and watching all of their activities. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EDT Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church west of Covington, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. David Barnett; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EDT Monday, April 14, 2008 at the church and one hour prior to services on Tuesday; Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington, Indiana.
