Doris Rommerskirchen, A Life of Love, Strength, and Integrity
Doris Rommerskirchen, 94, of Danville, IL passed away peacefully with her family and dear friends by her side.
A woman of incredible strength and faith, she leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and hard work.
Doris’s guidance and values helped shape generations of her family and instilled the importance of love and family, more than anything else.
Beyond family, Doris was a loyal and generous friend. She built her life on strong friendships, always there to listen, offer words of encouragement or make you smile. Her kindness and sense of humor touched everyone she met.
Known for her cooking, her kitchen was a place of warmth and laughter, and unforgettable meals.
A member of local churches, she was the first to lend hand and pray for you.
Doris loved gardening and was once honored with neighborhood’s best garden prize.
She enjoyed playing Bingo with the fun-loving group at Northside.
Doris met and married the love of her life Walter “Romy” Rommerskirchen on December 6, 1952. Soulmates, Doris and Romy shared 73 years of marriage which served as a beautiful example of commitment that inspired all that knew them. Romy is an amazing 102 years of age, and he survives Doris.
Doris was born in Catlin, IL on May 18, 1931, to the late parents Guy and Mary [McMasters] Bussard. She lived a life defined by family devotion and unwavering spirit. Siblings include the late Edna [Gene] Dalle, Everett “Bud” [Pat] Bussard, Joe Bussard, and William [Eleanor] Bussard.
She cherished time spent with family. Doris is survived by daughter Connie [Steve] White, stepson Donald [Sandra] Rommerskirchen, and stepdaughter Brenda Sanchez; nieces Chris Lockard, Vicki Parkerson, Lynn Huffman, Barb Bussard, Mary Dombkowski, Patrica Mudd, and Laura Campanile, nephews Scott Bussard, David Rommerskirchen, and late nephews Joe Bussard, Doug Bussard, David Rommerskirch, Sr., and Dale Rommerskirchen.
She treasured visits and playing cards with her loving granddaughter Jessica White MD [Joshua Reeves MD], devoted grandson Wes [Jennifer] Rommerskirchen, step grandson Roy [Lizette] Cantero, step granddaughter, Kandie Call, and adoring great-grandson, River Wesley Reeves-White.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834 on Saturday, January 10. Visitation starts at 1:00 p.m. with a service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. A graveside prayer will follow service.
Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. Her ability to bring a smile to your face created a ripple effect of happiness. She is beloved beyond words.
