Doris Nixon

Doris Jean Nixon, 86, Indianapolis, and formerly of Rossville, IL, passed away July 12, 2011. She was born March 4, 1925 in Rossville, IL, the daughter of Delmer Lyle Cox and Dessie Forrest Curby. Doris was a 1943 graduate of Rossville High School. Her passion in life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her happiest times were with them. Doris also won awards in ballroom dancing. She was a member of the Church of Christ, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the VFW Auxiliary. Doris was a homemaker and had previously worked for Merchants Bank. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Nixon, her children, Timothy, Patricia Dunn, James, and Donald, her granddaughter, Diana Eiler, her brothers, Theodore, Donald, Dale Bud, Charles Eddie, and Robert, and her aunt, Edna Lemaster. Doris is survived by her sons, William Michael and Daniel Alan; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Dorothy Denison. Services will be on Saturday, July 16 at 2 PM at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, IL. Visitation will be on Friday, July 15 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Condolences may be shared online at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com. Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center- Carmel assisted with local arrangements.
