Eugene, Ind. - Doris Maxine Arrasmith, 89, formerly of Eugene and a resident of the Waters of Covington for the past 1 1/2 years passed away at 12:10 p.m. EST Sunday, November 22, 2020 at the Waters of Covington.

She was born August 10, 1931 in Newport, Indiana the daughter of the late Truman and Hattie (Jones) Lewis.

Doris married Charles Ivan Arrasmith on November 23, 1949 in Newport, Indiana. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1994.

Doris was the last of her siblings to leave this earth. Her siblings were Mitch Lewis, Bill Lewis, Betty (Lewis) Wilburn, Ike Lewis, Sim Lewis and Ronny Lewis.

Survivors include her children: Pamela (Gene) Donald of Fort Wayne, Indiana and David (Rhonda) Arrasmith of Cayuga, Indiana; four grandchildren; 3 great granddaughters, and many loved nieces and nephews.

Doris and Charles owned and operated the Cayuga Cleaners in the late 50's and early 60's. Doris worked as a cashier at Dunkerly Grocery and she and Charles were the overseers of the former Collett Home in Cayuga from 1968 through 1970. Doris worked many joyful years with friends at Medline Industries in Covington, Indiana until her retirement. She enjoyed being outside tending her flowerbeds and spending time with family and friends. She often said, 'Let's go out and eat and go shopping.'

Funeral service with limited capacity: Friday, November 27, 2020 at 1 p.m. EST at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Ramona Trover; Burial: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Visitation: Friday, November 27, 2020 from 11 a.m. EST until time of services at the funeral home. Due to the current Governor mandate and per the family's request, face coverings will be required. Condolences: www.deverterfuneralhome.com.
