Doris Mae (Gouty) Sullivan, 90, of Danville passed away at her home with family by her side on October 10, 2015. Doris was born the daughter of Gilbert and Bessie (Crowder) Gouty on May 24, 1925. During high school, John's sister, Mary introduced John and Doris at Pop's Skating Rink. After graduation from Danville High School in 1943, Doris worked long hours in a Michigan air craft factory as a "Rosy the Riveter" while John served in the Navy. She married John W. Sullivan on June 23, 1944 in Newport, RI. while on shore leave. He survives. Also surviving Doris are three children; Nancy Sullivan of Danville, Gail O'Sullivan of Olympia, WA. and James Sullivan of Wasilla, AK., five grandchildren; Doris Hammeren, Jamie Dunn, Jimmy Russel, Michael Russel Jr. and Jesse Markus, four great grandchildren; Stanley III, Kristina, Johnny and Jenna Hammeren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Donald and William Gouty. Doris was a member of Faith Baptist Church, she enjoyed reading, sewing, square dancing, was even known to make her and John's matching square dancing outfits. A Celebration of Doris's life will be held at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville on Thursday October 15, 2015 at 1:30 pm. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm. prior to the service.
