Doris Lee (Talley) Chappell Doris Chappell, 85, of Danville, passed away at 7:00 PM Friday, June 1, 2012 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Doris was born on November 9, 1926 the daughter of Hyatt and Lenora (Johnson) Talley. She was married on November 27, 1948 in Danville to Robert Chappell. He survives. She is survived by one daughter- Michele Mermoud of Mitchell, IN, two grandchildren- Jason Mermoud of Bloomington, IN and Amanda Dawn Mermoud of Los Angeles, CA and three great-grandchildren- Autumn Lee Houshour, Nicole Mermoud and Celian Mermoud. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers- Duane, Dwight and Kenneth Talley. Doris was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church after coming over from McKinley. She was a nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital and then transferred to the VA Iliana Healthcare System in Danville where she retired in 1962. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, antiques and fixing old broken stuff. A private service will be held for Doris with Rev. Randall Robinson officiating. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
