Doris Jean Michael

Doris Jean Michael 86 of Perrysville, IN went to meet the lord on Friday, August 9th at her home.

She was born on December 18, 1937. She was the daughter of Auburn and Lola Belle Baker. She married Willard (Gene) Michael in September 1986 who cleared the way for her journey on July 2, 2024.

Survivors include her sisters, Judy (Jerry) Hogan of Clarksville, IN, and Malinda Sue (Brendon) Fassett of Spring Hill, FL. Her children Jeffrey (Evelyn) Haussy of Danville, IL, Michael (Stacy) Trosper of Perrysville, IN, Jeanie (Kenny) Metz of Georgetown, IL, and Mark (Karen) Michael of Cayuga, IN. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene Michael, daughter Eugenia Jones, grandchild Rachelle Jones, brother William Baker and his wife Sharon Baker, and sister Margaret Wilbur.

Doris enjoyed her time as a school cook in Georgetown school district as well as working for Hicks Wabash Handymart. She enjoyed playing Bunco with her friends, camping, mushroom hunting, going to her grandchildren's events, and family cookouts.

She was a member of the Perrysville United Methodist Church, the Perrysville Volunteer Fire Department auxiliary, and Vermillion County homemakers extension.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 11:00 am 1:00 pm EST at Sunset Funeral Homes DeVerter Chapel, located at 215 N. Division Street in Cayuga. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Jim Lawson will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest next to Gene at Hicks Cemetery in Perrysville following the services.
