Covington, Ind. - Doris J. Orahood, 79, of Covington passed away at 2 a.m. EDT Sunday, May 12, 2019 at her residence.

She was born June 22, 1939 in Kingman, Indiana the daughter of the late Roy and Leah (Kessler) Sanders.

Doris married Herschel L. Orahood September 26, 1958 in Covington, Indiana and he survives.

Other survivors include two daughters: Melody (Chuck) Johnson of Linden, Indiana and Dawn (David) Frye of Otterbein, Indiana; son: Allen (Dawn) Orahood of Williamsport, Indiana; two brothers: Lowell Jarvis of California and Terry (Candy) Sanders of Arizona. Eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Doris worked in the Covington High School cafeteria as a cashier until her retirement in 2000. She was a 1957 graduate of Kingman High School and a member of the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church. Doris enjoyed camping, traveling, gardening, attending church and also attending her grandchildren's sporting events.

Funeral service: 11 a.m. EDT Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church in Covington, Indiana; Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington, Indiana; Visitation: 4-8 p.m. EDT Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the church and one hour prior to services on Thursday. Contributions can be made to the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church, 7114 West US Highway 136, Covington, Indiana 47932.
