Doris J. Dinsmore

Danville Doris J. Dinsmore, 87, of Danville passed away at 6:44 AM on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Accolade Healthcare of Danville. She was born August 13, 1935 in Danville to George and Doris L. (Albert) Dinsmore. They preceded her in death.

She is survived by her twin sister, Donna J. (Erritt) Booe of Urbana; three nieces, Jean (Dave) Miles of Armstrong, Jill (Jerome) Keultjes of South Bend, IN, and Jayne Booe of Rantoul; two great nieces, two great nephews, and two great-great nephews.

Doris was a 1954 graduate of Danville High School before earning her associate degree as an X-ray Technician at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She continued working at the hospital until it closed its doors in 1988. Doris was also an accomplished athlete, having been active in local competitive softball for many years. In addition to softball, she was a talented bowler and was inducted in the Bowling Hall of Fame in 1987. Aside from her own accomplishments in sports, Doris was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

In her spare time, Doris enjoyed adding to her sizeable Mickey Mouse collection which may have put Walt Disneys to shame.

A service to celebrate the life of Doris J. Dinsmore will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. Pastor James Blue will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM prior to the service on Saturday, also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials made in Doris name may be made to C.A.R.A (Citizens Animal Rescue and Adoption) in Tilton, IL.
