Doris Dorie A. Goodner, 76, of Danville, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, March 12th, 2011 at the Hawthorne Inn. Doris was born on October 10th, 1934, in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of C.A. and Hazel (Fravell) McCarley. She married Keith Goodner on July 12th, 1953 at the Old Union Church of Christ. He survives. She is also survived by two daughters- Carol (Gary) Hammes of Heyworth, Illinois and Nancy Goodner of Fithian, Illinois; one sister- Shirley (Bill) Lucas of Danville; two grandchildren- Cathy Cleinmark of Heyworth and Greg Hammes of Bloomington, Illinois; two great-grandchildren- Isaac and Jacob Cleinmark both of Heyworth, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers- Gene McCarley and Lynn McCarley and one sister- Helen Allison. Doris graduated from Henning High School in 1952. She later attended classes at DACC. Doris worked at Clifton Gunderson, Fleming Weller, Dell Storm, Brainin Food Service and Hawkeye Foods. She was previously a member of Old Union Church of Christ and a charter member of CrossRoads Christian Church. She was very involved in the church and served as the mission fund treasurer for several years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, listening to music and spending time with her family. A Celebration of the life of Doris Dorie A. Goodner will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 16th, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Miles Clark officiating. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to CrossRoads Christian Church.
