Covington, IN- Doris Arthur Cooper, 92, of Covington passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the Waters in Covington. He was born on September 5, 1919 in Casey, IL to William L. and Hazel P. Baumgartner Cooper. He married Dorothy Eileen McCord on September 20, 1945 in Charleston, IL. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Shaun (Marcia) Cooper of Covington; daughter Donna (Mike) Meuer of Washington, PA; and five grandchildren, Joe Cooper, Megan Cooper, David Meuer, Ben (Callie) Meuer, and Tim (Theresa) Meuer. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Zarlie, Carl, Verl, Lowell, and Loren Cooper, and three sisters, Mernal Cartwright, Merian Webb, and Berna Cooper. Doris served his country in the United States Navy for six years during WWII. He ended his service as a Chief Machinist Mate and was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivor's Association. Doris was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion in Covington. He was an outdoorsman and loved fishing and hunting. A service to celebrate the life of Doris Cooper will be held at 1 PM ET on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Sunset's Covington Chapel. Eric M. Osborn will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope in Covington where military honors will take place. Visitation will be held from 11 AM - 1 PM ET prior to the service on Wednesday, Also at Sunset's Covington Chapel.
