Doris Arford

DORIS J. ARFORD, 84, of Danville passed away at 11:54 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Carle Hospital in Urbana. Doris was born November 17, 1927 in Charleston, IL the daughter of Robert and Cecil Hussong. She married Paul Arford on October 20, 1979. He survives. Other survivors include her three daughters, Sharon Beninato of Des Moines, IA; Jean (Jon) Bright of Bend, OR; and Nancy (Dan) Brown of Danville; two step-sons, Greg (Omekia) Arford of Bismarck, IL; and Darren (Kelley) Arford of Danville; seven grandchildren, Justin and Lindsey Brown; Ashley, Jordan, and Colten Arford; Breely and Hannah Arford; sister, Barbara (Gene) Minder of Lake Forest, CA; sister-in-law, Marilyn Hussong of Mattoon, IL; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Norman Hussong of Mattoon, IL. After graduating from Eastern Illinois University, she taught music in the Danville School District until her retirement in 1977. She was active in PEO and a past president of the Danville Art League. She was an avid reader and passionate about the arts. Every day, she gave selflessly to her family anything from a home cooked meal to one of her many valuable life lessons. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15 at Sunset Funeral Home, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville. Visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Monday, May 14 at the funeral home.
