Dora "Libby" Elizabeth Swisher

Dora “Libby” Elizabeth Swisher, 85, passed away on December 15, 2025 at her home in Cayuga. She was born on April 30, 1940 in Clinton, Indiana to the late Herman and Dora {Boots} Bailey. Libby married Elmer “Andy” Swisher on November 7, 1976 and spent the next 4 decades together making memories until his passing in 2014.

Libby held a series of different jobs throughout her lifetime that ranged from a candy maker at Chuckles, making coils at Meisei, serving at Steak N’ Shake, to some time at Quaker Oats. In her spare time, Libby enjoyed the simpler pleasures of life. She always ensured her surroundings were always well taken care of, including her beloved garden and fish ponds. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee with her best friend, Delores. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed.

Libby is survived by her children Jannifer (Steven) Steward, James D. (Sandee) Holman, and Jeffrey D. Holman; her grandchildren, James D. Holman II, Tyler S. (Yuri) Steward, Kevin A. (Malinda) Holman, Ryan J. Holman, Marci R. Holman, and Desiree E. (Morgan) Evans; and great-grandchildren Paisleigh, Myla, Evelyn, Otto, Garrett, Ethan, and Isaac. She is also survived by her siblings David Bailey and Barb Emory; good friends Delores Lappin, Shelly & Doug Matthews, and Linda Wilson.

In addition to her parents and husband, Libby was preceded in death by her siblings Rosemary Davis, Helen Sowers, and Wilma Bailey as well as her daughter-in-law Laura Oyler Holman.

A visitation will be held from 11 am – 1 pm EST on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home’s DeVerter Chapel, located at 215 N. Division Street in Cayuga, IN 47928. A funeral service celebrating her life will immediately follow at 1 pm EST that afternoon at the funeral home. She will be buried next to Andy at Thomas Cemetery in Newport following services.
