Dora Humphrey Jr

Dora Jr Humphrey, 89, of Georgetown, passed away at 11:50am, Monday, May 26, 2014, at VA Illiana Healthcare Systems, Danville, IL. He was born on January 22, 1925, the son of Dora J. and Mable {Buchanan} Humphrey. He was lovingly adopted & raised by Bluford & Rosie Smith in Fairmount, IL. He was first married to Helen Louise Keller on June 8, 1945, until her passing in 1977. He later was united in marriage to Mary L. Hinner on December 26, 1978, in Danville, until her passing on July 27, 1996. He is survived by: his children, Mark Humphrey of Urbana, IL, Tim Humphrey of Urbana, IL, & Lillian (Walter) Wooten of Trenton, GA; his 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his adoptive parents; and his daughters, Patricia Ann Cilea & Rebecca Doreen Cloud. Dora attended Lewisville, Indiana Schools. He was a proud Veteran of the US Marine Corp serving 1943-45. After WWII, Dora enlisted in the US Army and achieved the rank of Sergent. He was a member of the VFW and St. James Church in Danville. A celebration of Doras life will be held at 2:30pm, Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown. Visitation will be held 2pm-2:30pm prior to the service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Greenview Cemetery, Fairmount, IL, at 10:00am, Thursday, May 29, 2014, with Military honors conducted by American Legion Dornblaser Post #203. Memorial donations may be given to his family.
