Dora D. Vanzo

Dora D. Vanzo, 92, of Westville, was born in Jefferson County, PA on December 18, 1920, to Vester & Rose Fava Merlie. Dora married Albert Vanzo on April 29, 1946, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Westville, IL. Dora attended Westville grade schools & Westville High School. She worked at several jacket factories in Danville and Westville. She was also employed with the Westville Credit Union and the First National Bank of Westville. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church. Dora passed away at the County Health Care Nursing Home in Gifford, IL on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 7:30am. She is survived by: her daughter, Dana (Michael) Clary; a son, Brian (Kendra) Vanzo; a brother, Don (Eleanor) Merlie; and several nieces & nephews. Dora was preceded in death by: her husband, Albert; her father, Vester; her mother, Rose; a sister, Caroline; her dear sister, Geraldine M. Balbach; and a nephew, Michael Merlie. Dora loved to garden and always created a beautiful flower garden. She was an exceptional seamstress. A celebration of Doras life will be held at 11:30am, Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville, with Fr. Greg Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held 10am to 11:30am Wednesday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Research & the American Cancer Society.
