Donnie Roscoe Goodwin

Donnie Roscoe Goodwin, 85, of Covington, passed away at 9:40pm Monday, July 25, 2022, at home. He was born at home in Eugene, IN, the son of Roscoe & Ruby Goodwin. On March 3, 1956, he married Judith Ann Allen. Together they had three children, Diana Kaye Rogers, Cristy Ann (Donnie Crockett) Purple, and Donald Franklin (Lois) Goodwin. He also leaves behind six grandchildren; Brandy (Clint) Cockrell (whom he raised), Franklin Ray Goodwin, Brian Scott Goodwin, Christopher Sean (Melissa) Rogiers, Katrina Ann (Zane) Goodwin-Dillon, and Joshua Cory Rogiers; and his 13 great grandchildren whom he loved to watch grow; Jade, Nevin, Garren, Brody, Korbin, Brynna & Boone spent many hours playing with and entertaining their great grandpa, and Rollin & Drake were often found playing at grandpas before moving out of state and then there were Emma, Abigail , Hayley, & Jackson. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Callahan. He was preceded in death by his wife Judith Ann Goodwin; his son Donald 'Frank' Goodwin; his mother, Ruby Bush; his father, Roscoe Goodwin; his brothers, Dale Goodwin & Charles Goodwin; his sisters, Dixie Dunham & Valarie Jean Riley. Donnie enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was very active outdoors with mushroom hunting, maintaining vegetable gardens, mowing, fishing and making fish nets. He spent hours on the Wabash River with his close friend, Bill Dunavan. He tapped and cooked maple syrup with his son, Frank, and his grandchildren every spring, a memory they will hold in their hearts forever. In his younger years, he was an avid horseman, a passion which he passed on to his great grandchildren, Garren & Brynna Froschauer to carry on his love of rodeo. Donnie will be dearly missed and will always be remembered by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of Donnies life will be held at 3:00pm, Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Covington, Indiana 420 3rd St. Covington, Indiana 47932. Visitation will be 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Sunday prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington.
