Donnie Ray Phipps

Howard, Ind. - Donnie Ray Phipps, 64, of Howard, passed away at 12:25 a.m. EDT Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Union Hospital Clinton in Clinton, Indiana. He was born October 11, 1949 in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of the late William and Nellie Daily Phipps. He married Edna J. Lovett on September 26, 1971 in Indianola, Illinois. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Shannon(Ritchey)Shaun and Crystal(Jason)Johnson both of Danville, Illinois; eleven grandchildren, Dakota; Bailey; Alyssa; Hanah; Madison; Lucas; Andrew; Michael; Aaron; Mark and Amy. Also surviving are five brothers. Donnie retired in 1995 after 25 years from General Motors Tilton Foundry. He later worked at Krupp Gerlach in Danville, Illinois as a forklift driver. Donnie was a 1969 graduate of Seeger High School. He was a member of the Waterman Baptist Church in Lodi, Indiana and the U.A.W. Local 2419 in Danville, Illinois. Donnie enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR, always rooting for his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. Per Donnie's wishes cremation was accorded. There will be no public services. A private family service will be held at a later date. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is assisting the family with arrangements.
