Cayuga, Ind. -- Donnie Lee Switzer, 77, son of the late Frank and Odilla McLain Switzer, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. EDT at The Waters of Clinton in Clinton, Indiana with his wife by his side. He was born on March 17, 1931 in Eugene, Indiana and graduated from Cayuga High School in 1949. He married Jean Walters on June 14, 1952 and they were blessed with 56 years together. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Greg(Deana)Switzer of Arlington, Texas and Mark(April)Switzer of Covington, Indiana; a daughter, Lori Bishop and Denny of Cayuga, Indiana; five grandsons, Joe(Kristi)Bishop of Grain Valley, Missouri; Drew Switzer of Indianapolis, Indiana; Neil Switzer of Covington, Indiana; Erik Switzer of Arlington, Texas and Brandon Steele Switzer of Bloomingdale, Indiana; a granddaughter, Jenna(Taner)Server of Keller, Texas and two great grandchildren, Bennett and Weston Bishop both of Grain Valley, Missouri. He is also survived by five sister in law; three brother in laws and many nieces, nephews and cousins he thought so much of. Also a special friend and caregiver, Susie Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Todd and a brother, Frank. Donnie served his country during the Korean War in the Army Signal Corp. He worked 36 years at TeePak in Danville, Illinois as a pipefitter and welder retiring in 1994. He farmed his own ground and raised bees as a hobby for many years. He was a member of the Cayuga Senior's Club and attended the Cayuga Presbyterian Church. He was active with the Boy Scouts during the years with his sons. He loved so much his daughter, who has always been there for him. He enjoyed many school events through the years, especially basketball games and was always so proud of his children and grandchildren as he watched them participate. He loved them all dearly, along with his great grandchildren. Donnie was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. We all loved him very much and will miss him. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EDT Thursday, July 24, 2008 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Grover Williams; Burial: Eugene Cemetery in Eugene, Indiana with military graveside rites by the Cayuga American Legion Rainbow Post #263; Visitation: 11 a.m. EDT until time of services Thursday, July 24, 2008 at the funeral home.
