Donnal Don R. Swaney, 62, of Covington, IN passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2009, at 7:15 p.m., at St. Vincents Hospital in Williamsport, Indiana. Don was born April 11, 1947, in Covington, Indiana, the son of Archie Leroy and Estella Isabel (McKinney) Swaney. He married Cynthia Cindy Dickson on July 17, 1976, in Oakwood, Illinois. They shared 33 wonderful years of marriage together. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Patrick (Natalie) Swaney of Fort Myers, FL, Brandon Swaney of Covington, and Paul Swaney of Westville, IL; two daughters, Donna Talbert of Covington, and Paula Burns of Metcalf, IL; one brother, Mickey Swaney of Lafayette, IN; eleven grandchildren, P.J. Swaney, Michael Wheeling, Matthew Wheeling, Nicholas Talbert, Morgan Talbert, Cynthia Talbert, Courtney Talbert, Austin Swaney, Abby Swaney, Allie Swaney, and Sierra Jackson, all whom he loved very dearly; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Richard Swaney and John Swaney. Don was a life resident of Covington. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of the UAW, the VFW Post 2395 and the Cayuga American Legion. He retired from General Motors after 32 years of service and worked at Fountain Foundry for nine years. He loved to tinker in his garage with AJ at his side as he tried to keep Old Green running. He was an avid Nascar fan, and cherished the times he spent in his beloved garage with all of his friends cheering on his pick for the week. He will be terribly missed by all of his family and friends. A Celebration of Don Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST, Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Sunsets Covington Chapel, 420 3rd Street Covington, IN 47932 with Pastor Paul Kent officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. EST, Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery.
