Donna Jean Wilkerson

Donna (Osborne) Wilkerson died January 9, 2025, at home in Danville, Illinois.

Donna was born July 3, 1946, in Danville IL to Charles and Virginia (Weir) Osborne. She was raised in the Vermilion Heights area of Danville…a place she dearly loved. She graduated from Danville High School in 1964 and from Lakeview School of Nursing in 1967. She was proud to be an RN. The first seven years of her career were as an ICU nurse at Lakeview Hospital. In 1974 she went to work at the VA Medical Center in Danville. She proudly cared for our nation’s finest over the next 30 years, working primarily in the ICU Unit and Ambulatory Care Department. Following retirement in 2004 she worked part time in the Urgent Care and pre-op departments at Danville Health Care.

Donna married Bobby C Wilkerson on September 16, 1967, at the Vermilion Heights Christian Church in Danville. They spent 57 years of marriage until her death. They raised one daughter, Vicki Lynn. Survivors include husband Bobby, daughter Vicki Lynn (Michael) Christy of Camargo IL and two grandsons Trenton Schroeder of Champaign and Taggart Schroeder of Villa Grove and three step granddaughters, Claudia (Jonathan) Hicks of St. Peters MN, Olivia Christy (Jimmy Davis) of Chicago IL and Sophia (Wyatt) Suding of Camargo IL. Donna is also survived by one brother Gregory (Becky) Osborne of Palacios TX and Kingman Indiana. She was preceded in death by her loving parents and two brothers, Phillip Eugene Osborne, and Robert Wayne (Ruth) Osborne. She was also preceded by her “VERY BESTEST FRIEND” Helen Dotson.

Donna enjoyed playing cards with both friends and family. She enjoyed attending events her grandchildren took part in as well as cooking Holiday dinners for her family. She loved traveling, especially to other countries with an incredibly special friend, Linda Richards of The Villages, Florida.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 9:00 – 11:00 AM with services immediately following at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville. Cremation will follow funeral services with interment of ashes for the family in the Columbarium at the Swan Court Chapel Mausoleum in the Sunset Memorial Park at a future date to be decided.
