Donna Monroe

Donna Darlene (Dearing) Monroe was born August 8, 1947, she passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 6, 2021 from Parkinsons disease. Donna was born in Danville, IL., to the late Keith Dearing and LaFern (Dearing) Pierson on August 8, 1947. She lived in Santa Barbara, CA., for 13 years before her family moved back to Danville, IL. Donna was united in marriage to David Franklin Monroe on January 21, 1968. They served in ministry together for 38 years within the Church of the Nazarene in four different locations, McLouth, KS, for 9 years; Casey, IL for 6 years; Urbana, IL, for 12 years; and Racine, WI., for 11 years.

Donna enjoyed serving in various areas of ministry, listening to gospel music, writing, journaling, and being outdoors. She had the gift of hospitality and loved spending time together with her family.

Donna was survived by 3 children, her son Jonathan David Monroe of Issaquah, WA., her daughter Sarah Elizabeth (David) Ludwig of Lockport, IL., and Deborah Ruth Monroe of Danville, IL and 2 grandchildren Ethan David Ludwig and Avery Elizabeth Ludwig.

Relatives and friends may meet with the family at Danville First Church of the Nazarene on Monday April 12, 2021. Visitation will be from 10-11am, and service following at 11am with Dave Anderson and David Ludwig officiating. Interment services for Donna Darlene Monroe will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, IL., with a luncheon following at Danville First Church of the Nazarene.
