Donna Marie Hathaway

Donna "Dolly" Hathaway, 80, formerly of Danville, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Hinsdale Rehab in Hinsdale, IL. She was born on June 5, 1940 in Danville, IL, the daughter of John and Celesta (Marlo) Maross, both deceased. She was united in marriage to Thomas "Hats" Hathaway on June 11, 1966, until his passing on October 7, 2008. She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Dreama (Glenn) Mueller of Woodridge, IL; son, Parker (Sandy) Hathaway of Gibson City, IL; sister, Judy (Marty) Avenatti of Chrisman, IL; grandchildren, Megan (Alex) Tufano, Morgan Mensavage, Hannah Hathaway, Haven Hathaway, Brad (Heather) Brucker, Emily Mueller, and Elizabeth Mueller; nieces, Cari Dieu and Angie Bierly; great niece, Emily Bierly; and great nephew, Dalton Dieu. Donna was a great cook and loved to bake. She has every cookbook ever made in Westville. Donna was avid sports fan following the Fighting Illini, Chicago Cubs and Bears. She had a knack for decorating, always decorating her house, working in the yard planting flowers or doing weekend home improvement projects. She loved planning parties for her family or the "Sears Girls" and hosting the holidays was her favorite and she made every holiday and birthday special. She was happiest when spending time with her family. She enjoyed shopping or talking on the phone with her best friend and sister, Judy. Donna loved to watch TV sitcoms and always said she liked ending each night laughing before she fell asleep. Her family hopes heaven has a TV Land, Hallmark, and CBS. As her health began to fail, she spent the last six years going from her home to her daughters. Her life in the Westville area included being an active member of St. Marys Catholic Church, and Westville Womens Club. Donna was a loving mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend, and will be remembered through the many memories made with them. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at St. Marys Catholic Church, 231 N. State St, Westville, Illinois. Father Timothy Saupp will be officiating the service. A visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, IL, 414 S. State Street, Westville, IL 61883, prior to the service. she will be laid to rest in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Westville. Memorial donations may be made in her honor to St. Marys Catholic Church in Westville. It is kindly requested that face masks be worn, and social distancing is practiced by attendees.
