Donette Lake

Donette Rae Lake, 67, of Covington passed away at 2:10pm on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on September 12, 1954, in Goodland, Kansas to Donald Eugene Morgan and Shirley Kay McDonald. She leaves behind her daughters, Lexi (Kyle) Swaby of Covington and Loran Plunkett of Clinton; her five grandchildren, Hayden and Haddison Hack and Kolton, Lainey, and Laiton Swaby; her sister, Cynthia Ackerman of Pratt, KS; and her friend, Marvin Morgan of Covington. She was preceded in death by her dad, Donald Morgan and her mom and stepdad, Shirley and Charles Berry. Donette just retired from Covington Community School Corporation where she was a lunch lady for 26 years. She enjoyed walking and riding her bike, but most importantly she loved spending time with her grandkids. Her favorite things to do with her grandkids was taking them to the park, taking them swimming, and taking them to get ice cream. Donette had a servant's heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She would take care of pets when their owners were out of town, help run a local daycare if the owner had an appointment, she took multiple trash cans out to the road each week for her neighbors that weren't able to do it themselves, and she loved to bake cakes for her friends' birthdays. A celebration of Donettes life will be held at 6:00pm (EST), Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Covington, Indiana 420 3rd St. Covington, Indiana 47932 with Pastor Carla Bowling officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 6:00pm (EST) on Tuesday prior to her service at the funeral home. As per her wishes, Donette will be accorded cremation rites.
