Donald Winkler, born on January 29, 1945, in Danville, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on September 3, 2025. He was a devoted family man whose life revolved around the love and support of those closest to him.
Throughout his career, Donald worked at several esteemed organizations, including ATI, Wind Tech Core Lube, Wyman Gordon, and he also served as a door greeter at Wal-Mart following his retirement from housekeeping at the VA. His contributions to the workforce were notable, yet it was his commitment to family that truly defined his character. Donald found immense joy in spending time with his loved ones and regarded family as the most important aspect of his life. He enjoyed watching westerns on TV, fishing, woodworking, and reading as well.
Donald is survived by his beloved children: Randy Winkler (Gloria), Michelle Huber (Alan), and Tammy Winkler (Robert Parezo). He was a proud grandfather to several grandchildren, including Luis Fernandez, Destiny Cardona, Francisco Cardona, Keoki Winkler, Sheena, Misty, Johnathan Buckaloo, Kaylee Winkler, Heather Balsamello (Vince), and Faith Pryle (Jacob), as well as many great-grandchildren who brought him great joy. He also leaves behind his three sisters: Sue King, Deborah Winkler and Janice Kerst.
He is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Sharon Thomas, his daughter, Lynn Rahn, one brother and one sister. He also mourns the loss of his father, Forrest W. Winkler, and mother, Delores C. (Styer) Winkler.
