Donald Wayne "Don" Thomas, 69, of Catlin, passed away at 9:37 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2004 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born May 14, 1935 in Catlin, Illinois, the son of Carl Y. and Stella M. (Zahnow) Thomas. Sr. He married Illiah D. Smith on August 29, 1954 in Troy, Ohio. She preceded him in death on September 30, 1993. He later married Roberta Anna Adams on March 4, 1994 in East Peoria, Illinois. He is survived by: his wife - Roberta Anna Thomas of Catlin; 1 Son - Michael Wayne Thomas of Ft. Pierce, Florida; 2 Daughters - Janet Darlene (Scott) Lund of Danville and Lucinda Kae (Michael) Jackovich of Cayuga, IN; 2 Sisters- Mary June Thomas of California and Carla (Richard) Clawson of Georgetown; 1 Brother- Loyal (Phyllis) Thomas of Hoopeston; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 Brothers- Walter, Paul and John Thomas, and 1 Sister- Bonnie McCollum. Don was a lifelong resident of the Catlin-Fairmont area. He loved his job as a Brick and Block Mason and he established Thomas Brother's Masonry Company in 1962. He continued to work until just a few days prior to his death. He was a lifelong Jehovah's Witnesses, and was a member of the Georgetown Congregation, where he served as an Elder since 1972. Don served as a regular volunteer for Kingdom Hall Buildings as a Mason. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, snowmobiling and traveling.
