Donald Waterman

Donald Waterman, 62, of Georgetown, passed away at 8:56am, Sunday, March 18, 2012, at his home. He was born on July 17, 1949, in Danville, IL, the son of John L. and Betty L. {Pollitt} Waterman. He was married to Mary Beth Comrie on June 17, 1972, in Georgetown. She survives. He is also survived by: his mother, Betty Waterman of Georgetown; his sons, Jim (Nikki) Waterman of Georgetown, Tim (Nicole) Waterman of Georgetown, & Paul (Shannon) Waterman of Terre Haute, IN; his grandchildren, DeKota, Markus, Stacia, Hailey, Marisa, & Makayla; his mother-in-law, Betty Comrie; his brothers & sisters-in-law, Linda (Jim) Ireland of Danville, Jim (Kathy) Comrie of Springfield, IL, & Becky (Dale) Larson of Gilberts, IL, Pete J. Comrie of Georgetown, Theresa Krause of Danville, Sue (Myron) Humphrey of Plainfield, IN, Cody (Lisa) Comrie of Catlin, IL, Kelly (Marsha) Comrie of Danville, IL, John (Jane) Comrie of Corpus Christie, TX; and many, many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by: his father; his brother, John R. Waterman; his father-in-law, Pete Comrie Sr.; his sister, Barb; his three nephews, Carl, Craig, & Chrissy; and a special brother-in-law, Verne Krause. Donald graduated from Georgetown High School in 1967. He worked at General Motors and retired after 29 years of service. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam. He served as the Finance Officer with the Georgetown American Legion Dornblaser Post #203 where he was a past member. He taught Sunday school at the First Church of Christ in Georgetown. He enjoyed volunteering to help with Boy Scouts and coaching youth baseball in Danville. Donald also worked for Burgoyne's and I.G.C. delivering flowers for them. He was also known for being a St. Louis Cardinal fan and Illini fan. He and his wife, Mary Beth, enjoyed doing everything together and he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. A celebration of Donald's life will be held at 11:00am, Friday, March 23, 2012, at First Church of Christ, Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00pm-8:00pm, Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #210, Danville. He will be laid to rest in Danville National Cemetery.
