Donald G. Washkowiak, 68, of Westville passed away at 4:50 p.m. Friday December 24, 2010 at Provena USMC Logan Campus. He was born on May 2, 1942 in Danville, IL the son of George and Vera (Malkus) Washkowiak. He married Linda Hoover in 1967. She survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Kara (Bud) Boyer of Danville; his sons, Donald D.G. (Beth) Washkowiak of Tilton, Rich (Carrie) Washkowiak of Catlin, and Jason (Kimberly) Washkowiak of Perrysville, IN; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Marc) Carpenter of Henning, Kristin Bernard of Danville, Ryan Washkowiak of Tilton, and Dylan, Zoe, and Shelby Washkowiak, all of Catlin; his great grandchild, Lilly Carpenter; his cousin Nan Urbas of Georgia, and his good friends Rich and Diane Giacone of Speedway, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents. Donald worked at Lauhoff and L.E. Meyers before owning and operating Veras Tavern in Westville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and past member of the American Legion Post 51 of Westville. He belonged to the 40 & 8 Club of the American Legion. He was a fireworks enthusiast and was known for his Labor Day Party. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR, and Football. A celebration of Donalds Life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday December 29, 2010 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, A Life Celebration Home. Pastor James Blue will officiate. He will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery with a graveside service at 10 am Thursday December 30, 2010. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Wednesday December 29, 2010 at the funeral home.
