Donald W. Burchett

Cayuga, Ind. -- Donald W. Burchett, 77, formerly of Cayuga and a resident of Logansport, Indiana since January 2007, passed away at 9:25 a.m. EDT Thursday(November 1, 2007) at the Miller's Merry Manor in Logansport, Indiana. He was born July 6, 1930, in Lee County, Virginia, the son of the late Lindsey and Myrtle Weston Burchett. He married Neva M. Glass on January 12, 1951 in New Tazewell, Tennessee. She survives. Other survivors include: three daughters, Debbie(Erroll)Harding of Cayuga, Indiana; Pattie(Ron)Goodrich of Winamac, Indiana and Sandi Burchett of Logansport, Indiana; one son, Jim(Donna)Burchett of Carthage, Texas; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren; three sisters, Nancy Kate Horton of Jonesville, Virginia; Ruby Meyers of Monroe, Michigan and JoAnn(Earl)Horton of Jonesville, Virginia; four brothers, Charles(Libby)Burchett of Madison, Ohio; Paul(Jean)Burchett of New Lebanon, Ohio; Earl(Phyllis)Burchett of Social Circle, Georgia and Lynn Burchett of Covington, Indiana. Don was a machine operator at Olin/Flexel Corporation in Covington, Indiana retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Waterman Baptist Church in Lodi, Indiana. Don was a 1948 graduate of Flatwoods High School in Jonesville, Virginia. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services: 10 a.m. EST Monday, November 5, 2007 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. William Lehman; Burial: Eugene Cemetery in Eugene, Indiana; Visitation: 2 to 6 p.m. EST Sunday, November 4, 2007 at the funeral home.
