Donald Vanallen

Donald H. VanAllen, 81, of Danville, went to be with the lord at 10:30pm on Friday, June 29, 2018 at his home surrounded by his wife & family. He was born on June 25, 1937 in Oakwood, IL, the son of Oliver "O.K." Kenneth & Celma (Swaim) VanAllen. He was united in marriage to Sharon Walge on December 14, 1984. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Sharon; brother in laws, Tom Wiener of Evansville, IN, Ted Limp of Stonington, IL, Rod Hornor, of Slidell, LA, Joe(Carla) Walge of Danville; sister in laws, Sue (Walge) Hornor of Slidell, LA; Nieces & Nephews, Brad (Linda) Hornor of Marietta, GA, John (Shelly) Hluck of Charlette, NC, Jeff (Sherry) Peterson of Macon, IL, Adam (Mandy) Grimes of Bismarck, IL, Kevin (Jamie) Allen of Henning, IL, Phil (Deirdre) VanAllen of Evansville, Kathy Banta of Chicago, IL & Tommy Wiener of South Bend, IN; Also survived by many great Nieces, Nephews & Cousins. Don was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Dowers; borther in law, Robert Banta; sisters, Nancy Gae Wiener & Kathryn Banta; sister in law, Sally (Walge) Limp. Don worked at Interstate Printing for many years and retired at 65. He then drove a semi for 3 years and retired again. He was a positive, very kind & gentle man. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He loved Photography, corvettes & line dancing. A Celebration of Don's life will be held at 11:00am on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermillion, Danville. Officiating will be Pastor Patti Wise. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00am prior to the service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.
