Donald Thomas Dietz, 62, of Paxton, formerly of Danville passed away at 12:30am on Monday, May 07, 2012 at the Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana, IL. He was born on February 23, 1950, in Danville, the son of Joseph W. and Florence M. (O'Brien) Dietz. Both are deceased. He attended Saint Joseph and Schlarman High School, graduating in 1968. After high school, Don attended DACC, and served in the United States Army from 1972-1974. He lived his last 24 years in Rantoul, Danville, and Paxton. He is survived and will be missed by his daughter, Heather (Joe) Bice of Nixa, MO., two granddaughters; Alycia Berry of Highlandville, MO., and Lexi (Forrest) Lewis of Seattle, Washington. Two great-granddaughters, Keyria Johnson of Highlandville, MO., Haileigh Hulen of Seattle, Was., one brother, Joseph(Rosemary) Dietz of Danville, one sister, Florence (Fred) Hockenberry of Paxton, his close friend, Leroy Brodian of Loda, IL, and a very special niece, Teresa (Scott) Fulling of Bloomington, IL, as well as several other nieces and nephews also survive him. In addition to his parents, his brother Edward Dietz, and half brother, Paul Dietz preceded Don in death. Don was a great basketball player and a fishing enthusiast. He shared his passion for fishing with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and will be missed by all that knew him. Per his wishes, Don, will be cremated under the direct supervision of Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville. A graveside service celebrating his life will be held at the Danville National Cemetery on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 12:00pm with military honors being performed by the Danville American Legion Post #210.
