Donald Stunkard

Donald Stunkard, 88, of Danville passed away at 2:15 PM on February 5, 2023 in Norridge, IL.

Donald was born on September 1, 1934 the son of Robert L and Lillian (Johnson) Stunkard in Danville, IL. He married Karen Bennett on June 8, 1957 in Danville and she survives.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Stunkard of Danville, his daughter, Shelly Bowman (Jerry DePratt) of Danville, three grandchildren, Michael (Kahla) Bowman of Danville, Emily (Tanner) Tranchant of Danville, and Lacey Ramsey, great grandchild, Millie Bowman, one brother, Robert E Stunkard of Broomfield, CO, one sister, Sue Cabunac of Oxford, MS, and his fishing buddy Dallas Bowman as well as his rescue dog, Gina.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, one son, James J. Stunkard and a special cousin, James Wallen.

Donald served in the United States Air Force. He worked for Hyster Company before opening a small engine wholesale business, Danville Engine Company with his wife Karen. When he wasn't working in their family business, he enjoyed playing golf, mushroom hunting, fishing, going to casinos, playing his guitar, and singing for anyone who would listen. He also enjoyed traveling across the country with his wife, Karen, and his dog, 'Sammy the Beagle'.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 13, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 from 9-10:00 AM at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in Donald's memory to the Danville Humane Society or the Vermilion County Animal Shelter.
