Donald L. Stimac, 87, of Danville Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather (Pappaw) passed away at Colonial Manor Nursing home in Danville, IL at 10:31 am on March 15, 2022.
Don was the loving and faithful son of John and Marcelle (Birmont) Stimac. He was born on September 13, 1934 in Westville, IL. He married the love of his life Rosalie P. Williams on October 25, 1958 in Danville, IL and spent 46 years together. She preceded him in death on April 28, 2004.
Survivors include his sons, Gregory Stimac of Danville, IL, John (Belle Allison) Stimac of Danville, IL and Michael (Debi) Stimac of Danville, IL, eight grandchildren, Ryan Stimac, Natalie (Josh) Walters, Staci (Luke) Ballengee, Jeremy Stimac, Amber (Andrew) Jones, Brandon Stimac, Dani Stimac and Dalton Stimac as well as seven great grandchildren, Braedyn, Kyler, Asa, Emma, Harper, Brelynn and Annaleigh.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and his sister Janet Cook.
He attended Westville Schools graduating in 1952. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Don started his career at McMasters Chevrolet in Georgetown, IL and later went to work at Eureka Printing for 21 years in Danville. He then went to work for Quaker Oats Co. in Danville where he was a Maintenance Supervisor, retiring in 1997 after 23 years of service.
Don was a Jack of all trades. He was a passionate man and would go out of his way to help others. He was smart, funny and quite the jokester. He liked fishing, watching Nascar and Football. He also liked spending time in the garage working on cars but especially enjoyed when family and friends would stop by and drink a cold one. His greatest joy in life was his family. He will be deeply missed.
A Private Family Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park. Pastor Miles Clark will officate. Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorials may be made in Donalds memory to the Shriners Childrens Hospital or American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard.
