Donald Shumard, Sr.

Donald Calvin Shumard Sr., age 49, passed away at his home Wednesday August 11, 2021. He was born October 26th, 1971 in Champaign, Illinois to Julia Roderick-Shumard (preceded him) and Harold McQueen. He is survived by his 5 children Nicholas Rhoden, Christopher Rhoden, Hope Shumard, Sierra Shumard-Young, Donald Shumard Jr. and his 6 grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers Jimmy Burgoon and Joe (Denise) Burgoon, as well as his four stepchildren Jonathan Meyer Jr, Lacey Byers-Caudill, Ashly Meyer, and Mary Sandlin-Bishop, and his special friend Bobbie Swisher. Donald attended high school and then later started many entrepreneurial endeavors. He found enjoyment in helping others. He was a lover of music, books, movies, fishing, cooking, church and was an avid collector of all things.

Donald's visitation will be held Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street, in Danville from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
