He was born on February 23, 1918 in Danville, the son of William and Sarah (Wallace) Duncan. He married Gerry Roderick on September 24, 1944 in Georgetown, IL. Gerry preceded him in death in 1982. They spent 38 wonderful years together. He will be deeply missed by one son, Terry (Sandy) Duncan of Fithian, IL, five grandchildren, Tara (Mike) Auter of Danville, Miki Lynn Bounds of Danville, Megan (John) Shuman of Georgetown, Becky (Brandon) Lyman of Catlin and Scott Goff of Danville, four great grandchildren, Duncan Auter, Charlotte Lyman, Addison and Derek Shuman. Shorty was preceded in death by one son, Michael Duncan, two brothers, Wayne and Douglas Duncan and one sister, Rosemond Craycraft. He was a truck driver for many years for ONeil Brothers and transported many mobile homes early in his life. Shorty was very involved in his son Terrys stock car racing and worked on all their cars for over 30 years. He was a very social person, always talking to people at various restaurants every morning and never knew a stranger. He would always be willing to lend a helping hand to anyone; he would even travel to Florida for a couple days just to let his family know he was thinking of them. You could usually find him tinkering on things in his garage. He loved animals and was a very family oriented person. A celebration of Shortys life will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Drew Mentzer officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
