Donald Ray "Bird Dog" Baird

Cayuga, Ind. - Donald R. "BirdDog" Baird, 65, of Cayuga, passed away at 8:20 p.m. EDT Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born July 6, 1948 in Clinton, Indiana, the son of the late Victor W. and Bertha Mae Coonce Baird. Survivors include one daughter, Haley Baird of Attica, Indiana; two sons, Adam(Keyla)Baird of West Union, Illinois and Blake Phelps of Indianapolis, Indiana; several grandchildren; three sisters, Nyla(Jerry)Williamson of Cayuga, Indiana; Vickie York of Cayuga, Indiana and Sherry(Steve)Beasly of Mount Carmel, Illinois. Donald was preceded in death by his son, D.J. Baird. Donald was a 1967 graduate of North Vermillion High School. He enjoyed all sports, especially NASCAR and spending time with friends and family. Cremation has been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 2 p.m. EDT Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Cayuga American Legion with memorial services at 3 p.m. EDT. DeVerter Funeal Home in Cayuga, Indiana is assisting the family with arrangements.
