GEORGETOWN- Donald R. Acord, 77, of Georgetown, passed away at 5:50am on Thursday, February 17th, 2005, at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Don was born on March 20th, 1927, in Georgetown to the late Andrew J. and Arzella (Watts) Acord. Don married Inez Farrell on June 14th, 1947, in Georgetown. She survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Kenneth Michael Acord of Danville, and Mickey Darwin Acord of Bedford, IN; two daughters, Donna Christine (Michael) Cosat and Teresa Rae Whaley, both of Georgetown; three brothers, Doyne (Helen) Acord of Danville, Dewey (Pat) Acord of Tilton, and Clarence (Phyllis) Acord of Independence, IN; five sisters, Mildred Utesch of Danville, Shirley (Bill) Felgenhauer of Westville, Veda (Earl) Attan of TN, Adabelle Kern of Villa Grove, and Etha Attan of Danville; his nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. His four brothers {Irvin, Andrew, Franklin, and Weaver Acord}, two sisters {Juanita Hall and Treva Francis}, and one son-in-law {Timothy Whaley}, preceded him in death. Don was employed at the General Motors Tilton Foundry for 33.5 years before retiring. Don was considered a loving, caring family man that enjoyed life, people and the great outdoors. He was a member of the Vermilion Fishing Club, and loved to tinker around in the garage, building and fixing just about anything for family and friends. In his spare time, Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and bowling, but especially enjoyed being around his family.
