Donald Paul Meredith

Donald Paul Meredith, aged 88, passed away on the evening of November 8, 2016, at the Veteran's Medical Center Palliative Care Unit in Danville, Illinois. He was born on February 21, 1928, in DeLand, IL, to Robert Caryl Meredith and Bonnie Crystal (Sparrow) Meredith. After serving in the Korean War in the 147th Port Battalion from 1950-1952 and obtaining the rank of sergeant, he married Luella Alberta Weaver on February 14, 1954, in Danville. He is survived by his wife, Luella; two sons, Mike Meredith (Becky) of Clarendon Hills and Jeff Meredith (Jeanne) of Noblesville, IN, two daughters, Stacy Bade (Andy) of Tucson, AZ, and Gina Meredith of Danville; one brother, Allen Meredith (Dorothy) of Shenandoah, TX; two sisters, Shirley Arnholt of Greenwood, IN, and Joyce Wise (Fred) of Danville. He was also very proud of his four grandchildren: Meghan Helms (Chris), Ryan Meredith, Erin Treu (Lukas), and Shannon Tople (Alex). During his lifetime, Don was involved in Boy Scouts as a Cubmaster and very active in the Kickapoo Karvers. He farmed, worked in construction, and owned his own construction company, Meredith General Construction. He loved to travel, garden, hunt, and keep bees. Visitation will be held Monday, November 14, 2016 from 4PM to 7PM at Sunset Funeral Home at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 10AM at Sunset Memorial Park at 3901 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating will be Andy Bade.
