GEORGETOWN - Donald P. Dickerson, 92, of Georgetown, passed this life at 10:00am, on Friday, February 16th, 2007, at North Logan Health Care Center of Danville. Donald was born on October 29th, 1914, in Eugene, IN, the son of Jessie and Mary Christina (Stevenson) Dickerson. His parents, his beloved sisters, Mary Dickerson & Doris Dickerson (Neal), preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his first wife; Ruby M. (Kyger) Dickerson whom he married on March 30th, 1942. Donald married Hattie Billie Baker on December 17th, 1976. She preceded him in death on January 10th, 2006. He served in the US Army and was also a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a retired Union Carpenter and proudly served as President of Carpenters Local #269 for many years. He loved to travel, do yard work, and care for his home. Survivors include: his brother, Jack (Ruth) Dickerson of Danville; his granddaughters, Patti Elliott of Danville, Donna (Kevin) Watkins of Danville, and Tammy (Robin) Bruno of Pinellas Park, FL; his great granddaughters, Jordan Lyons, Kristina Bruno, Sarah Reed, Rachel Watkins, Stephanie Watkins, & Devon Watkins; and great grandsons, Kyle Fortner, Kaleb Fortner, Karl Bruno, Alex Reed, & Dale Watkins. He was especially close to his great granddaughter, Maranda (Cory Winget) Stingley and his great-great granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth of Georgetown. A celebration of Donalds life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, February 24th, 2007, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown. Pastor James Blue will officiate. Visitation will be 5-8p on Friday, February 23rd, 2007. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
