Rev. Donald O. Haley, 69, of Danville, Illinois, went to be with his Lord Wednesday October 10, 2012 at 10:54 p.m. at his home. Donald was born on May 6, 1943 in Crawfordsville, IN. He was the son of Donald E. Haley and Dorothy (Haley) Owens. He married Judith A. Kiser on October 11, 1962 in Battleground, IN. She survives. He is survived by one son, Chris Haley of Peoria, IL and one daughter, Heather (Danny) Roberts of Danville, IL. Two grandchildren, Katie and Kelsie Haley of Peoria, IL ; two step grandchildren, Nick Roberts of Indianapolis, IN and Kendra Thompson of Lebanon, IN. and five step grandchildren, Isabella and Lincoln Roberts and Sydney, Anabell and Keira Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents. He graduated from Battleground High School in Indiana, class of 1961. He was president of his senior class and co captain of the basketball team and selected as an All-County player. He graduated from Purdue University in 1966 with a BA degree in Industrial Engineering. Don worked for RCA in Indianapoils for 5 years. During that time he acquired his real estate brokers license and also attended law school in Indianapolis. He worked for Bohn Aluminum in Danville, IL for 6 years. In 1973 he and his wife helped to found the Rock Church in Danville, Ilinois. Don had a great passion for teaching the Word of God. He pastored churches in Peoria and Princeton, IL for approximately 14 years. At the time of his death he was serving as an elder and as visitation pastor at the Rock Church in Danville, Illinois. He enjoyed woodworking with his father and Indy, Sprint car and Nascar racing. In the last several years of his life he enjoyed photograhpy, especially wildlife. A celebration of Don's life will be held on Monday, October 15 at 10:00 a.m.at the Rock Church in Danville, IL. with Rev. William Hummer and Reverend Randy Downing officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, October 14 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville, Illinois. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Don had many crisis situations with his health for several years and the Lord brought him through them all. We are extremely grateful for the years we were given with him and treasure the memories we have. Memorials can be made in Don's name to the American Heart Association, Lupus Foundation of America, or the Rock Church.
