Donald McCrone, 99, of Trenton, FL, formerly of Danville, passed away on August 27, 2015 at Ayers Health and Rehab Center in Trenton, FL. He was born on August 17, 1916 in Danville, the son of Charles and Phyllis (Linck) McCrone. He married Lilas Winkler on April 18, 1936 in Danville. She preceded him in death. Donald will be deeply missed by one son, Donald H. (Linda) McCrone of Georgetown, IL, two sisters, Margaret Armstrong of Champaign, IL and Florance Barton of Danville, IL, nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, James McCrone, granddaughter, Elise McCrone, two sisters and four brothers. Donald was a member of the United States Army, during World War II, enlisting on July 26, 1942 and discharging on July 8, 1946. After his service he worked for the Wabash Railroad Company as a machinist in Tilton, IL until his retirement in 1976. Donald and Lilas spent their winters in Florida for many years before moving there permanently in 2008. A celebration of life graveside service for Donald will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 1:30 PM at Springhill Cemeteries Chapel Mausoleum in Danville .
