Donald L. Mathers, 85, of Danville, passed away at 7:17 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2009 at his home. Donald was born on May 4, 1923. He married Mildred Klimm on January 7, 1945. She preceded him in death on April 13, 1984. He later married Mildred Andrews on November 13, 1993 in Mattoon, Illinois. She survives. He is also survived by his one son- Craig (Judy) Mathers of Savanna, Illinois; one daughter- Pam (Kevin) Clem of Lawrenceville, Georgia; one step-son- Kevin (Teresa) Andrews of Bismarck; one step-daughter- Rhonda (Clyde) Clark of Pisgah, Alabama; four grandchildren- Nicole and Jessica Mathers and Nathan and Patrick Clem; six step-grandchildren- Derrick (Dana) Paddock, Brandon Paddock, Whitney Pettus, Ryan (Kendal) Andrews, Heather (Chris) Dukes and Blake Andrews; two step-great-grandchildren- Micah and Hannah Paddock. Donald graduated from Media High School. He later attended mortuary school in St. Louis. Donald was a funeral director for 45 years and retired in 1983 from Barrick and Sons Funeral Home, after 25 years there. He was a member of the Alvin Christian Church. He enjoyed traveling, dancing and shopping. Donald also enjoyed spending his time with family and friends. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at Morrisonville Cemetery in Morrisonville, Illinois, with Pastor Tim Cary officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Memorials may be made to the Alvin Christian Church or to the American Cancer Society.
