Donald Lee Luebbers 72, of Danville passed away on Jan 8 comforted by his wife Charlotte. Don was born in St. Louis Missouri. He and Charlotte were married on June 30th, 1962. He will be dearly missed by his three children, Lynne Stevens of Nashville Tennessee, Dennis (Anne Scheible) Luebbers of Gurnee, and Shelly (Jeff) Ryan of St. Louis, MO; 4 grandchildren, Jason and Jake Stevens, and Joshua and Gabriel Ryan, One Brother, Dave (Kathy) Luebbers of St. Louis MO and One sister, Lois Joachimstaler (Kurt) of Orange, California. He was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church. He graduated from General Motors Institute (1964) in Industrial Engineering. He worked for 35 years at General Motors Central Foundry, retiring at the age of 55 when the foundry closed. He then became a registered representative with W. Burnside Company. For 25 years he worked actively with his wife on teams for Marriage Encounters and Engaged Encounters in the Peoria Diocese receiving the Pere Marquette award in 2004. For 40 years he enjoyed the Art of Japanese Bonsai, participating in many Arts in the Park at Lincoln Park and was a member of the Bonsai Club at the University of Illinois. Other hobbies included sailing his Hobie Catamaran, fishing with his grandsons, and shooting at the Danville Rifle and Pistol Club and Westville Sportsman Club. For 8 years he served as treasurer at the Elks Lodge #332, was a member of the Bloodbank Board, and the Exalted Ruler for the last 3 years. He loved to travel and hike and be with his family at the beach. Visitation will be at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville on Sunday January 12th from 3 to 6pm. A celebration of Dons life will be at 1pm, Monday January 13th at St. Pauls Church with Father Greg Nelson and Father Ted Pracz officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Elks National Foundation Scholarship, Lodge #332 Illinois Elks Childrens Care Corporation, Or St. Pauls Parish
